Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Mammography Technologist to operate mammography equipment and perform exams. The role requires ARRT Mammography certification within 12 months of hire and BLS certification within 30 days of starting.

• Adheres to departmental policies and safety protocols; documents work in HIS/RIS/PACS and PEN RAD systems.
• Assists in other areas/modalities as needed.
• Cleans and maintains all accessory equipment and work area.

Hiring Range: $31.20 - $56.16 Please note that the final offer may vary within this range based on a candidate's experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

Scheduled Hours: Tuesday-Thursday 11a-730p and Saturday 6a-3p

Shift: 1 - Day Shift, 8 Hours (United States of America)

Major Responsibilities

1. Operates Mammography Equipment and performs Mammography Exams; makes a psychological and physical assessment of each patient, making adjustments in the standard imaging procedures and techniques to accommodate patient size, age or condition using universal protocol and sterile techniques as necessary. Demonstrates breast self-examination if required.
2. Records all pertinent breast history from the patient and notes any discomfort or medical complaint which could be of importance to the Radiologist.
3. Adheres to established departmental policies and procedures, and safety control. Accurately documents work in the HIS/RIS/PACS and PEN RAD systems.
4. Assists in other areas/modalities as needed.
5. Cleans and maintains all accessory equipment (i.e., paddles, detectors, work area).

Position Qualifications

License/Certification/Education

Required

1. Must take the initial exam for the ARRT certification in Mammography within 6 months of the completion of the required competencies. Exam delays will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
2. Must pass the ARRT Mammography certification exam within 12 months of hire.
3. BLS certification with 30 days of hire.

Preferred

1. Prior experience in the field

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
