LOCATION: Riedman Health Center - 1455 East Ridge Road Rochester, NY 14621

DEPARTMENT: Imaging

SCHEDULE: Days, M-F, 8hr shifts between 6:45am-5:30pm, weekend requirement

SUMMARY

As a Mammo Tech, you are to demonstrate excellent customer service, communication skills and obtain quality positioning and imaging quality studies while providing maximum comfort and safety to patients. Warm and comforting patient care skills is mandatory for these sensitive procedures. Performs screening and diagnostic mammogram examinations and assists radiologist in performing mammographic procedures. This team member’s role is to obtain images of good diagnostic quality while providing maximum comfort and safety to the patient undergoing these exams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains accountability for proper documentation of exams and related procedures utilizing the RIS/PACS and in patient charts as necessary. Performs screening, diagnostic, and/or assists in performing mammographic procedures. Monitors image quality on a continuous basis to ensure that all image quality is within alignment with the ACR quality standards. (American College of Radiology). Monitors equipment for proper performance and functionality. Performs daily and periodic Mammography QA activities under the direct supervision of the Mammo QA technologist. Performs all exams based on imaging department protocols or protocols the exam with the radiologist. Follows policies & procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients, public and staff. Performs hand off when other team members will be involved with patient care. Assists trains, or cross-trains imaging team members as directed. Responsible for pre-work- reviewing studies to ensure readiness prior to patient’s arrival. Cleans, restocks and prepares rooms on a daily basis. Attends hospital and departmental meetings and in-services. Practices excellent customer service behaviors. Practices radiation safety, adhering to ALARA principles. Team member may be asked to work at another RRH imaging location according to staffing needs. Assists or rotates to other imaging modalities when required and within the scope of licensure and/or registry. Reaches out for assistance when technical issues including PAC and image transfer need to be addressed. Works independently with little supervision assisting interventional mammographic biopsy procedures with the radiologists and/or residents, as assigned Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Two year college degree in Radiologic Technologist in Applied Science or equivalent. NYS license in Radiologic Technology OR must hold NYS permit and obtain licensure within six months of employment. American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Certification (ARRT-R) required within six months of employment. New Graduates: Official transcript from accredited school or letter emailed directly from the school’s registrar’s office confirming program completion will be accepted upon graduation. Primary source education verification required within 90 days of start date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior Radiologic Technologist experience. ARRT-M Advanced Mammography Certification. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and ability to work various software applications. Exceptional customer service and communication skills.

RT(R) - Registered Radiologic Technologist - NYS Office of Professions, RTC - Radiologic Technologist certification - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision‑making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. Any physical requirements reported by a prospective employee and/or employee’s physician or delegate will be considered for accommodations.

PAY RANGE

$29.50 - $42.50 CITY: Rochester POSTAL CODE: 14621 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
