Overview

Mammo Tech

This is a PRN role.

As a Mammo Tech at St. Luke's Woodlands hospital, you will perform mammographic, stereotactic biopsy, and breast pathology localization procedures. To be successful, you must have a solid knowledge of imaging equipment and proper patient positioning. You’ll strive to deliver a positive experience to our patients and their caregivers.

Position Summary

Operates specialized mammography, stereotactic biopsy, and bone densitometry equipment. Performs direct patient care and technical procedures to produce diagnostic images for breast diseases and osteoporosis evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Selects and modifies patient positioning; performs mammographic, stereotactic biopsy, breast localization, and bone density procedures.
• Educates patients about mammography procedures.
• Performs quality control of radiographic equipment, screens, and processing to meet ACR, MQSA, and state regulations. Maintains documentation and takes appropriate actions. Conducts daily cleaning and maintains repeat/reject image analysis.
• Assists radiologists with invasive procedures, documents procedures, and provides first aid if needed. Ensures biopsy reports are correlated with pathology results.
• Coordinates with the O.R., scheduling, physicians, and staff for effective invasive breast procedure scheduling.

Qualifications

Education

• Associate’s Degree preferred.
• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R) and Mammography (M); current certification required.

Certified by the State of Texas - MRT.

Minimum Experience

One (1) year of experience as a radiologic technologist.

Certifications

• CPR/BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Pay Range

$30.55 - $44.30 per hour
