Overview

Mammo Tech

As a Mammo Tech at St. Luke's Woodlands hospital, you will perform mammographic, stereotactic biopsy, and breast pathology localization procedures.

To be successful in this role, you must have a solid knowledge of imaging equipment and proper patient positioning. You’ll continuously strive to deliver a positive experience to our patients and their caregivers.

Clinical services include cardiovascular services, diagnostic imaging, women’s services (digital mammography and bone density studies), neurosciences, pediatric care (Newborn and Level II nurseries), surgery, pathology, pulmonary services, and sleep disorders. Clinical affiliations include The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Radiation Treatment Center and Texas Children’s Hospital.

Position Summary

Operates specialized mammography, stereotactic biopsy, and bone densitometry equipment. Performs direct patient care and a variety of technical procedures to produce images for diagnosis of breast diseases and osteoporosis evaluation.

We are offering a $10,000 sign-on retention bonus in addition to relocation assistance for new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Selects and modifies patient positioning; performs mammographic, stereotactic biopsy, breast pathology localization, and bone density procedures.
  • Performs patient education with mammography patients.
  • Performs mandatory quality control of radiographic equipment, screens, and processing to ensure compliance with ACR, MQSA, and state regulations. Maintains daily cleaning of equipment, documents all actions, and analyzes repeat/reject images daily.
  • Assists radiologists with invasive procedures, documents procedures, and provides first aid to patients if needed. Maintains report correlation of biopsy with pathology reports.
  • Coordinates with the O.R., central scheduling, physicians, or office staff for effective scheduling of invasive breast procedures.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate’s Degree preferred.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R) and Mammography (M); must maintain current certification.
  • Certified by the State of Texas - MRT.

Minimum Experience:

One (1) year of experience as a radiologic technologist.
