Job Details
- The Mammography Technologist performs mammography exams, screenings and diagnostic studies, and assists during invasive procedures. Under the physician's direction, detects breast tissue abnormalities and presents findings for diagnosis. Provides patient care and education before, during, and after procedures.
Responsibilities include:
- Interacting with co-workers, visitors, and staff in line with Jefferson's values.
- Operating mammography equipment to produce diagnostic images.
- Ensuring proper patient and breast positioning, instructing patients, and adjusting equipment for optimal exposure.
- Following radiation safety standards to protect staff and patients.
- Documenting services in patient records.
- Providing patient support, explaining procedures, and answering questions.
- Maintaining equipment through preventive measures and troubleshooting.
- Performing related duties such as quality assurance as directed.
- Maintaining continuing education for licensure and job requirements.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of mammographic imaging techniques and ability to produce diagnostic images.
- Ability to prepare and monitor patients during procedures, respond to emergencies.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Graduate of recognized Radiology Sciences or ARRT Registry in Radiology Technology. ARRT (R), (CT) preferred.
- At least 40 hours of mammography-specific training if qualifying after April 28, 1999.
- Training in Digital Mammography or on-the-job training with competency and didactic completion; additional certification time required.
- Preferred 6 months to 1 year experience.
Certifications and Licenses:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- ARRT certification in radiography, advanced certification in Mammography preferred. MQSA CE requirements of 15 CEUs in 36 months preferred. (M) Registry eligibility with 6 months to certification.

- Day shift, full-time.
- Location: 100 S 9th Street, Philadelphia, PA.
