Lead Radiology Technologist (Full Time) - Philadelphia, Center City

Job Details

The Lead Radiology Technologist performs X-Ray scans of patient's internal anatomy to aid physicians in diagnosing illnesses, diseases, or injuries. Executes radiologic services in compliance with relevant laws and regulations and provides consultation advice to patients and radiology professionals. Delivers patient care and education before, during and after diagnostic imaging procedures. Assists department management with administrative and leadership duties as assigned, including quality assurance, training, scheduling, and mentoring staff radiology technologists, and may act in a supervisory capacity in the absence of the regular supervisor.

Job Description

  1. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  2. Appropriately positions radiographic equipment or x-ray film to produce images with necessary detail or contrast in order to assist with diagnosis and treatment.
  3. Explains radiographic procedure to the patient, obtains complete and accurate history relevant to the examination being performed. Communicates effectively with the patient.
  4. Provides staff and patient protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards, including placement of shields/aprons in order to limit radiation exposure.
  5. Implements and monitors local, state and national regulations, standards, requirements and clinical protocols for radiologic imaging services.
  6. Maintains x-ray equipment by performing scheduled cleaning/tests and documents results.
  7. Makes recommendations on new equipment and equipment modifications for the department.
  8. Maintains and updates patient and study information to ensure billing and RIS/PACS accuracy; handles patient records while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  9. Responsible for overseeing daily activities within assigned department to maintain patient flow, keep technical staff productivity to a maximum and assure that service provided is of the highest clinical quality.
  10. Assists with scheduling to ensure proper coverage, training and development of X-Ray staff, and other administrative needs as assigned to maintain efficient department operations.
  11. Responsible for maintaining continuing education required for licenses and job position.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required):

  1. Knowledge of RIS systems.
  2. Knowledge of PAC’s systems.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  1. Graduate of an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) program or current validated Registry from ARRT in Radiology Technology (R). ARRT (R), (CT) Preferred.
  2. 3+ years' experience preferred.

Minimum Certifications, Registration or License Requirements:

  1. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  2. Registration and continued certification through the ARRT.
