Dorado is seeking a native Malayalam speaker to join a data annotation project focused on transcription and layout analysis of Malayalam documents. You will locate publicly accessible Malayalam PDFs, identify page regions, and assign component types with reading order indices.

You will reproduce all text exactly in Malayalam script, flag unreadable areas, and collaborate in a two-person review workflow to ensure high accuracy across diverse layouts such as newspapers, forms and manuals.

Qualifications

• Native Malayalam speaker with full command of the script and orthography.
• Experience with documents: annotation, transcription, localization, proofreading or related tasks.
• Exact character-level accuracy is essential; avoid incorrect diacritics.
• Apply a consistent taxonomy across hundreds of pages, not improvising per document.

Responsibilities

• Source Malayalam PDFs that include multimodal elements and record their source.
• Annotate structure by bounding regions and assigning component types and reading-order indices.
• Record relationships by linking regions to their parent figures or tables.
• Transcribe faithfully in Malayalam script, flagging unreadable regions.
• Capture page metadata: language, document type, source, page dimensions, and handwriting/table flags.
• Review peers’ work in a second Malayalam expert-driven process.
