Job summary

City of Olathe is seeking a Makerspace Supervisor to lead a team of Makerspace Specialists and manage daily operations within the Makerspace. This full-time, in-person role supports programming, training, scheduling, and active community engagement.

The position requires at least two years of Makerspace-related experience, supervisory skills, and strong customer service. English proficiency is required; Spanish/ASL preferred. The role involves lifting up to 60 pounds and rotating Saturday shifts.

Qualifications

• Two years of relevant Makerspace experience required; familiarity with laser cutters, 3D printers, sewing/embroidery machines, vinyl cutters, studio A/V equipment is preferred.
• Supervisory experience in a team setting; strong organizational, time-management, analytical and communication skills.
• Proficiency in English; Spanish/ASL skills preferred to support diverse community programs.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and develop a Makerspace team; handle scheduling, training, performance reviews, and rotating coverage including evenings/weekends.
• Lead programming development aligned with library goals; ensure accessibility and adherence to brand standards; collaborate with internal stakeholders.
• Provide instruction and guidance on Makerspace tools and technologies; manage inventory and maintenance; support community programming.
