Job summary

The City of Olathe is hiring a Makerspace Supervisor to lead a team of Makerspace Specialists and support daily operations of the space in a full-time, in-person role.

You will supervise staff, help design and deliver programming, and ensure programming aligns with the library's goals while maintaining high safety and service standards. The role emphasizes training, collaboration, and community outreach.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of relevant experience in a Makerspace or similar environment.
• Experience delivering programs, workshops, or instruction on Makerspace equipment is preferred.
• 1 year of supervisory experience in a team-based setting with scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and develop a team of Makerspace staff including hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluations.
• Lead programming aligned with library goals; ensure inclusive, developmentally appropriate delivery across in-person and outreach channels.
• Provide guidance and training on Makerspace tools; manage inventory, maintenance schedules, and collaboration with City departments.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Bachelor’s degree in STEAM, Entrepreneurship, Library Science, or related field (preferred)
