Job summary

Drew Charter School seeks a dedicated Makerspace Manager to oversee day-to-day operations, equipment maintenance, scheduling, and staffing of the Makerspace. You will support teachers in project-based learning and engineering projects, organize materials, and promote STEAM Trunk programs while designing student exhibits.

You will lead after-school clubs, train student workers and volunteers, and serve as the primary liaison for technology support and facilities.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, CS, or related field.
• 1-3 years work-related experience required.
• Two years of progressively responsible Maker experience or equivalent.
• Design software proficiency: TinkerCAD, AutoDesk, Adobe Suite, Meshy AI, OnShape.

Job description

The STEAM Makerspace Manager oversees the operation and maintenance of the Makerspace, including managing equipment, supplies, scheduling, and staffing to ensure optimal functionality. This role supports teachers and staff in designing and executing project-based learning (PBL) and engineering class projects, while also specifying, procuring, and organizing materials. The Manager leads after-school programs, builds and maintains exhibits of student work, and serves as the primary liaison for technology support and facility maintenance. Additionally, they promote Makerspace and STEAM Trunk programs, maintain accurate records, and foster a safe, inclusive environment for all users. The Makerspace Manager also designs and crafts exhibits of student work.

• Manage daily operations of the Makerspace by scheduling usage and staffing.
• Advise, procure and maintain equipment, supplies, and materials.
• Provide a clean, safe environment for all users in the Makerspace.
• Manage the planning of facilities maintenance in the Makerspace as primary liaison with facilities and technology.
• Collaborate with staff from other departments to ensure Makerspace equipment is ready to use and in good functioning order
• Installs, maintains, and trains instructional staff on innovative Maker Tech [equipment, applications, etc.]
• Maintains the structure and equipment on 10 STEAM Trunks.

Maker Events

• Coordinate one Makerspace sponsored event.
• Support other campus maker/STEAM events as needed.

Qualifications

Required

• Education: Bachelor's Degree (B.A., B.S., B.S.N., etc) in Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Arts (Sculpture/ 3d Design) or related.
• Previous Work-Related Experience: 1-3 years work-related experience is required.
• Two years of progressively responsible Maker experience or any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
• Use of design software required: TinkerCAD, AutoDesk, Adobe Suite, Meshy AI, OnShape, etc.
• Teaching experience preferred (summer camp, after school programming, or other work with K-12 students).
