Job summary

George Mason University’s Mason Innovation Exchange (MIX) seeks a proactive MIX Program Coordinator to optimize operations across the Makerspace, Media Lab, and Entrepreneurship Incubator on Fairfax, Arlington, and Manassas campuses. The role reports to the MIX Senior Director and focuses on programming, outreach, and inter-department collaboration.

The position is part-time, on-site, with occasional evenings and weekends to support events; travel between campuses is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, education, or related field or equivalent experience.
Proficiency with social media and marketing.
Experience in event coordination and scheduling.
Proficiency with Makerspace equipment (3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, welding, electronics, media tools).
Exceptional organizational and communication skills; ability to manage multiple projects.
Experience supervising student staff; ability to coordinate schedules and staffing.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and scheduling platforms.

Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate student staff; schedule and allocate tasks with MIX Manager.
Develop newsletters and marketing materials; use Canva and Adobe Creative Suite to promote programs.
Plan, coordinate, and execute innovation-focused events, workshops, and competitions.
Provide admin support for incubator programs and entrepreneurship activities; liaise with related departments.
Manage purchasing, expense reporting, and other financial operations for MIX activities.
Develop and deliver 2–3 workshops per week; assist with cross-disciplinary programming.
