Job summary

Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) seeks a Part‑Time Technical Assistant III to join Interior Architecture. The Technical Assistant III serves as the key technical contact in a lively learning community that blends digital studio processes with traditional analog methods to explore the built environment.

Responsibilities include setting up and operating core maker spaces, instructing faculty and students on equipment use, maintaining and repairing equipment, and coordinating with facilities on

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum four years of practical or relevant work experience in art and design disciplines and associated technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate core maker spaces, including shared studio tools, 3D printing and scanning equipment, VR hardware, studio printers, and ancillary learning spaces.
  • Advise faculty and students on technical parameters of class assignments and proper handling of machinery and production processes.
  • Submit work orders to facilities and coordinate repairs with vendors when necessary.
  • Maintain inventory levels of equipment and supplies and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise student monitors.
