Job summary

Morgan Properties is seeking a Make Ready Service Technician for The Ridge at Merriman Valley in Akron, OH. The role focuses on preparing units for new residents, performing basic maintenance, and supporting the maintenance team to keep properties in top condition.

Ideal candidates have 1 year of maintenance experience, a valid driver's license, and a willingness to learn. The position features a 40-hour workweek with potential on-call duties and a sign-on incentive.

Qualifications

• One year of related maintenance experience or equivalent education and experience.
• Active and valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
• Live within a 30-minute commute of the property.
• HVAC/EPA/CFC certification preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform standard apartment turns and unit prep.
• Repair and troubleshoot appliances and basic electrical fixtures.
• Repair drywall and touch-up paint; caulking and finishing.
• Assist with plumbing, fixtures, and basic electrical work as needed.
• Support maintenance team, porters, and housekeeping; assist with inspections.

Join our team as a Make Ready Service Technician at The Ridge at Merriman Valley in Akron, OH! With 1,400+ apartment homes, this community keeps you busy year-round and gives you real room to grow your maintenance career.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Base Pay: $21.00 – $24.00 per hour
• $1,500 Sign-On Bonus
• Up to 20% Rent Discount

• On-Call Appreciation: $15/day for holding the on-call phone

What You'll Do:

• Standard apartment turns and unit preparation
• Basic appliance repair and troubleshooting
• Drywall repair and touch-up painting
• Basic electrical repairs and fixture replacement
• Caulking and apartment touch-ups
• Trash-out and debris removal
• Testing locks and key sets
• Assisting with property inspections and apartment walks
• Maintaining grounds and common areas including trash pickup, sweeping sidewalks and breezeways, etc.
• Assisting Maintenance Technicians, Porters, and Housekeeping as needed

Hours & Schedule:

• Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Position will eventually participate in rotating on-call responsibilities
• Must be available and prepared for emergency events as needed
• Schedule subject to change based on business needs

What we’ll expect from you:

• Active and valid driver's license and personal vehicle
• Live within a 30-minute commute of the property
• Traditional maintenance skills and hands-on experience preferred
• Experience with apartment turns, appliance repair, drywall, painting, and basic electrical work preferred
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and a willingness to learn — we'll teach the rest
• HVAC/EPA/CFC Certification preferred, but not required
• One year of related maintenance experience, or equivalent education and experience
