Job summary

Reproductive Freedom for All is seeking a Major Gifts Officer on the West Coast (San Francisco Bay Area preferred) to build and grow relationships with high-capacity donors, advancing reproductive freedom through philanthropic and political giving opportunities. Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a portfolio of approximately 100-125 major donors capable of five- and six-figure investments.
• Develop and implement cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and upgrade strategies.
• Personally solicit major gifts and partner with senior leadership and board members on strategy.
• Identify, cultivate, and steward donors interested in philanthropic and political giving.
• Support planned giving conversations and legacy opportunities.
• Identify and engage new donor prospects through prospect development and mapping.

About the role:

The Major Gifts Officer focuses on building and growing relationships with high-capacity donors to increase philanthropic investment in Reproductive Freedom for All and advance reproductive freedom. This role manages a portfolio of major donors through strategic cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and donor engagement.

This position is responsible for managing a portfolio of major donors and prospects, securing five- and six-figure gifts, and supporting donor engagement strategies in partnership with senior leadership and board members. The Major Gifts Officer also helps identify new prospects, supports planned giving conversations, and engages donors around both philanthropic and political giving opportunities.

The goal of this position is to deepen donor relationships, grow philanthropic revenue, and expand long-term investment in the organization's mission and advocacy work. Through strategic fundraising and donor engagement, this role helps strengthen and sustain support for reproductive freedom nationwide.

Location: West Coast, preferably San Francisco Bay Area

This Position Is: Full Time, Exempt, Non-Union

Salary: $75,000 - $125,000.00

Responsibilities:

• Manage and grow a portfolio of approximately 100-125 current and prospective major donors capable of making five- and six-figure investments;
• Develop and implement individualized cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and upgrade strategies to deepen donor engagement and increase philanthropic support;
• Personally solicit major gifts and partner with senior leadership and relevant board members on donor engagement strategy, relationship management, and high-level fundraising opportunities;
• Identify, cultivate, and steward donors interested in advancing reproductive freedom through both philanthropic, planned legacy and political giving;
• Support planned giving program strategy and conversations with donors interested in legacy and long-term investment opportunities;
• Help identify and engage new donor prospects through strategic prospect development and relationship mapping;
• Partner cross-functionally with Development, Political, Communications, and Executive teams to connect donors to organizational priorities and impact;
• Craft compelling one-to-one major donor communications and work with the Development Communications team to deliver funding proposals and impact reports;
• Support donor stewardship and cultivation efforts through salon and forum events;
• Maintain accurate donor records, strategy notes, and pipeline tracking within the donor database;
• Represent Reproductive Freedom for All at donor meetings, events, conferences, and fundraising opportunities;
• Travel regularly to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors, including occasional travel with executive leadership;
• Additional duties may be assigned consistent with the responsibilities and qualifications of this role.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience, at least 3 of which are in major gifts and planned giving fundraising, including managing donor portfolios and personally soliciting four- and five-figure gifts. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and professional experience will be considered;
• Demonstrated success cultivating and stewarding high-capacity donors and building long-term philanthropic relationships;
• Experience engaging donors around planned giving or legacy giving opportunities;
• Experience with political fundraising, advocacy fundraising, or movement-based fundraising strongly preferred;
• Strong understanding of progressive philanthropy and the reproductive freedom landscape preferred;
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tailor messaging for diverse donor audiences;
• Experience working effectively with executive leaders, board members, and high-profile stakeholders;
• Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through;
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while remaining flexible, collaborative, and solutions-oriented in a fast-paced environment;
• Ability to effectively collaborate across teams and departments;
• Strong interpersonal and relational skills, including the ability to work with people from different backgrounds;
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 25% of the time;
