Major Gifts Officer

Location: Nashville, TN

Status: Full Time

Days: Monday - Friday

Hours: 40/week

Seeking a Passionate and Dynamic Major Gifts Officer to Drive Impactful Giving!

SUMMARY

The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors for Alive Hospice. This role involves building relationships with prospects capable of donating to the organization. The position is a vital part of the fundraising team, supporting hospice programs of care through various initiatives. Working closely with all development staff, the officer will develop, implement, and manage major gifts and planned giving programs. Participation in annual planning and budgeting is required, and the candidate should be highly motivated, organized, and effective in time management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Prepare an annual plan, timelines, and budgets for major gifts and planned giving programs.
  2. Develop and implement strategies to identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects; manage a portfolio of donors to meet specific goals.
  3. Coordinate donor interactions with senior management and the Board; prepare necessary materials, proposals, reports, and acknowledgments.
  4. Provide stewardship for donors and prospects; plan donor stewardship events.
  5. Ensure timely and accurate maintenance of all gift and donor information; attend key events to maintain visibility.
  6. Contribute to the creation of the annual case for support; prepare reports to evaluate development activities.
  7. Support other development activities as needed to ensure program success.
  8. Participate in strategic planning and budgeting; maintain prospect data; research and compile statistical data; receive donations.
  9. Identify and research potential donors capable of giving $5,000 or more, including new prospects and donors targeted for upgrade or renewal.
  10. Engage in all gift cycle aspects: develop cultivation strategies, solicit, and maintain stewardship contacts.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with the Chief Advancement Officer and team to develop and implement major and planned giving strategies.
  • Create and maintain detailed records of donor interests and backgrounds in the donor management software.
  • Utilize available technology to increase efficiency, communication, and performance.
  • Use donor relationship management and research software effectively.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; five to seven years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with donor relationship management software is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid driver's license and automobile insurance as required by Tennessee State Law.
