Job Summary
The Major Gifts Officer (MGO) applies Biblical stewardship principles in relational fundraising, cultivating genuine and mutually beneficial relationships between Pioneers and ministry partners.
The goal of the MGO is to see these partners (individuals, churches, and businesses) support Pioneers-USA and Pioneers' global projects through major gifts, ongoing pledges, and the planning of future gifts by will, estate, or other financial vehicles. In this way, the MGO generates the relationships and funding needed to see more churches planted among people who were previously unreached by the gospel.
This work is undertaken as a remote employee of the US Base (Orlando, FL), with travel and networking within the region of the MGO's residence.
Qualifications

- Committed and growing Christian who is deeply engaged in a Christian community.
- Passionate about fundraising to see the unreached reached.
- Passion to teach others about unreached people groups and The Great Commission.
- A person of character exemplifying honesty, trustworthiness, diligence, and dependability.
- Possesses a Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, finance, nonprofit fundraising, or a relevant discipline.
- At least 5 years prior experience in nonprofit fundraising programs/firms, sales roles, or financial advising.
- Demonstrates a passion for Biblical stewardship and desire to engage others in the same.
- Comfortable with high-net worth individuals and asking them to contribute financially to Pioneers.
- Possesses knowledge of fundraising methods and a basic understanding of planned giving tools.
- Able to clearly and concisely communicate the mission, vision, and heart of Pioneers.
- Possesses a high level of interpersonal, verbal, listening, and written communication skills.
- Experience in public speaking and presentation.
- Familiar with social media tools and comfortable using them for networking and fundraising.
- High use of good judgment, tact, diplomacy, and prudence.
- Has advanced knowledge of MS Office software and database programs, coupled with a willingness and aptitude to learn new software and implement new procedures.
- Willing to sign a confidentiality agreement.
- Willing to spend the majority of time engaged in face-to-face relationships to build a constituency of approximately 150 donors.
- Able to travel and spend 30% of the time (about 15 weeks) out of town, including international travel up to twice a year.
- A motivated, self-starter with a desire to achieve personal and organizational goals.
- Has a home office and is willing to work remotely.
Responsibilities
- Represent Pioneers to external constituencies, including high-net-worth individuals, churches, and businesses, promoting Biblical generosity and missional values.
- Maintain a personal moves management process, with the goal of engaging, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of 150 major donors.
- Collaborate with the Director of Major Gifts and senior leaders to organize events to attract and retain donors.
- Advance all major donors and prospects toward revenue goals, integrating planned giving into cultivation strategies.
- Assist in prospect research and identification, engaging new prospects through networking and moves management.
- Join local societies and associations to enhance networking opportunities.
- Continuously learn about fundraising through seminars, conferences, and reading.
- Prioritize funding for Pioneers-USA's Strategic Priorities Fund (SPF) and Annual Campaigns.
- Build and manage a portfolio of prospects and donors, determining the best engagement strategies.
- Maintain knowledge of current global initiatives and projects as secondary funding opportunities.
- Solicit major gifts directly and in person, working with senior leaders to develop tailored solicitation plans.
- Make personal visits to major donors at least once a year, as feasible.
- Use creative engagement methods such as events, vision trips, briefings, and social networking.
- Collaborate with the Advancement Team to prepare reports, proposals, and materials for donors.
- Coordinate with the Database Manager to update donor information.
- Stay informed on ministry accomplishments, needs, and events to speak confidently about Pioneers’ global work.
- Respond to donor communications promptly, acknowledging gifts within a week.
- Utilize Pioneers' CRM system to record and track donor interactions and goals.
- Maintain weekly communication with the Director of Major Gifts and submit weekly reports.
- Submit quarterly travel plans and budgets, and biannual reports for the Board of Directors.
- Set objectives and evaluate progress regularly, including calls, visits, and gifts, aligned with campaign goals.
Additional Notes
Preference given to candidates with a well-established personal network in their region. Cross-cultural mission experience is highly valued.
Physical Demands
- Ability to travel domestically monthly and internationally up to twice a year.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
- Ability to work on a computer for long periods, including typing and viewing screens.
- Work environment primarily in an office setting with public contact and interruptions.
- Physical ability to perform typical office tasks, including lifting light to moderate weights, and to communicate effectively.
- Normal vision and hearing capabilities with or without correction.
