Job description

Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles (JBBBSLA) is currently seeking a talented individual for the position of Major Gifts Officer, who will play a key role in helping the agency reach its fundraising goals. The Major Gifts Officer will serve as a frontline fundraiser, cultivating a robust portfolio of donors to support the mission and fundraising goals of JBBBSLA. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, authentic leader, and dynamic professional with proven success in fundraising, knowledge of the Los Angeles Jewish community, as well as other philanthropic and corporate sectors. This position reports to the Chief Development Officer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Manage a robust portfolio of donors and prospects with the capacity to contribute major gifts ($10,000+) to JBBBSLA.
  • Lead every stage of the donor lifecycle from identification and cultivation to solicitation and stewardship, with a goal of securing major gifts annually.
  • Develop and execute customized, data-informed cultivation strategies that align donor’s interests with JBBBSLA funding opportunities.
  • Ability to conceptualize the agency mission and communicate the concept to donors with passion.
  • Achieve and exceed defined performance metrics including annual visits, solicitation, and revenue goals.
  • Work collaboratively with all members of the Development team to support agency fundraising goals and activities.
  • Actively represent the agency through attendance at community events and membership in appropriate organizations.
  • Partner with the CEO, CDO, and board members to identify, solicit, and steward high-capacity donors, foundations, and corporations.
  • Build authentic, long-term relationships with donors through personalized outreach, meetings, site visits, events, and mission-centered experiences.
  • Create compelling donor proposals, impact reports, and stewardship communications that clearly demonstrate outcomes, stories, and philanthropic impact.
  • Ensure timely and meaningful recognition, acknowledgement, and ongoing engagement of major donors.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date donor records and activity tracking in Raiser’s Edge.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • College degree and a minimum of 5+ year’s experience working in a fundraising and leadership environment.
  • Proven and successful track record of major gift solicitation.
  • Very strong oral and written communication skills for a variety of projects, including solicitation letters, gift proposals, and donor communication.
  • Experience cultivating high-level relationships with donors and board members.
  • Strong skills related to Raiser’s Edge or a comparable CRM database.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Personal commitment to the mission and values of the organization. Passionate about helping children in Los Angeles.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
