The Association of Fundraising Professionals is looking for a Major Gifts Officer to spearhead fundraising initiatives for the Brain Aneurysm Foundation. This role involves managing a portfolio of high-net-worth donors and creating strategic engagement plans to secure major gifts essential for advancing health research and awareness.
The Brain Aneurysm Foundation is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Major Gifts Officer with a proven track record in non-profit fundraising, to lead our efforts in securing transformative philanthropic support. This role is pivotal in advancing our mission to raise awareness, promote early detection, and fund research for brain aneurysm prevention and treatment. The MGO will manage a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporations, developing and executing personalized strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward major gifts.
Key Responsibilities
Donor Portfolio Management
Build and Manage Portfolio: Develop and oversee a portfolio of 50-100 qualified major gift prospects and donors, focusing on gifts of $10,000 and above, with a goal to secure $250,000+ contributions annually.
Moves Management: Implement a donor-centered moves management strategy, including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgment, and stewardship.
Engagement: Facilitate meaningful donor engagement through face-to-face meetings, video calls, phone conversations, and personalized communications. Goal of 20 face-face meetings per month.
Fundraising Strategy & Execution
Collaborative Planning: Partner with the Executive Director to create and execute donor cultivation and solicitation strategies aligned with BAF's funding priorities.
Proposal Development: Develop compelling proposals and solicitation materials tailored to donor interests and organizational needs.
Solicitation: Lead efforts to secure major gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations, focusing on both unrestricted and designated support. Develop annual appeal.
Stewardship & Recognition
Donor Stewardship: Design and implement personalized stewardship plans to acknowledge and recognize major donors.
Events: Organize and host donor cultivation and recognition events to deepen donor engagement and appreciation.
Reporting: Provide regular updates and impact reports to donors, showcasing the outcomes of their contributions.
Collaboration & Reporting
Collaboration: Work closely with board members, volunteers, and program staff to leverage relationships and maximize fundraising potential.
CRM Utilization: Utilize CRM software Raiser’s Edge NXT to track donor interactions, monitor progress towards goals, and generate reports.
Reporting: Provide regular updates to leadership on fundraising activities, donor engagement, and revenue projections.
Administrative & Strategic Support
Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of donor interactions, strategies, and outcomes in the donor database.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Director and development team to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals.
Compliance: Ensure all fundraising activities adhere to ethical standards and legal requirements.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree required; CFRE certification is a plus.
Experience: 3–5 years of proven success in major gift fundraising, preferably in healthcare or health nonprofit, with a track record of securing gifts of $10,000 and above.
Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey empathy, gratitude, and philanthropic impact.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with CRM systems, preferably Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge NXT, Prospects Insights module & Research Pointe.
Attributes: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, self-motivated, and donor-focused.
