Job summary

NC State University is seeking a Director of Philanthropy to identify, qualify, solicit, and steward major gift donors within the CALS Advancement team. The role reports to a Senior Director and works to maximize support across CALS.

The director will manage a portfolio of discovery and actively managed prospects, collaborate with fundraising colleagues campus-wide, and coordinate volunteer involvement to advance strategic priorities. Extensive travel and events are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with at least 5 years of advancement experience.
• Proven success in major individual gift fundraising, preferably in higher education.
• Strong relationship-building and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify, qualify, cultivate, and solicit major gift prospects.
• Manage a portfolio of ~150 prospects and donors capable of giving $100,000+.
• Meet or exceed annual fundraising goals and develop strategies to maximize results.
• Coordinate volunteers and collaborate with campus colleagues to align donor interests with priorities.
• Attend events and travel locally and out of state as needed.
