Job summary

NC State University is seeking a Director of Philanthropy to lead major gift fundraising within the CALS Advancement team. The role focuses on identifying and soliciting high-value donors, managing a large portfolio, and collaborating across campus to align donor interests with strategic priorities.

The ideal candidate will have documented success in major gifts fundraising, strong relationship-building, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five (5) years or greater of experience, including 3 years of progressive advancement experience.
• Proven experience and demonstrated success in major individual gift fundraising, preferably in higher education.
• Strong relationship-building and collaboration with faculty, administrators, volunteers, alumni and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Identify, qualify, cultivate and solicit prospects for gifts of $100,000 or more.
• Develop and manage a portfolio of approximately 150 prospects/donors.
• Coordinate with campus colleagues to align donors’ interests with priorities.
• Attend events and travel as needed; manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
