Job summary

The Southern Illinois University Foundation invites applications for two Assistant Director of Development positions. The individuals in these positions are responsible for a portfolio of major gift prospects and are expected to identify, cultivate, and solicit private financial support from alumni and friends of Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

The successful candidate will be a member of the development staff and report to the Senior Director of Development Officer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with professional experience in fundraising or related nonprofit work.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Submit letter of application, CV/Resume, transcripts, and three references.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and cultivate private philanthropic support.
• Secure $250,000+ annually in new gifts and commitments.
• Conduct 50–100 face to face visits per year.
• Prepare proposals and gift agreements.
• Maintain records in the foundation’s prospect management system.
• Report progress toward annual action plans.
• Participate in staff meetings and performance evaluations.
• Protect confidential information.
