Job summary

Cityside Journalism Initiative seeks a Major Gifts Officer to cultivate and steward our highest-level donors, managing a personal portfolio of 75–100 donors giving $1,000+ annually and supporting executive leadership in engagement strategies.

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, you will coordinate donor cultivation events, advance legacy giving initiatives, maintain accurate donor data, and help expand Cityside’s major donor program for a mission-driven newsroom.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of fundraising experience with major gifts preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with donor management platforms and email marketing tools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a portfolio of 75–100 major donors, evaluating performance and growth opportunities.
• Develop engagement strategies with frontline fundraisers and manage follow-up actions.
• Draft donor correspondence, proposals, pitch decks and stewardship updates.
• Maintain and analyze donor data to inform strategies and reporting.
• Lead donor cultivation and stewardship events and support legacy giving initiatives.
