Job summary

Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa is seeking a Full-time Maintenance Assistant for the Community Center. The role involves ground maintenance, cleaning, basic repairs, and building security. A valid US driver’s license is required, along with knowledge of various systems and tools.

You may be asked to travel and support diverse tasks within the community. Successful candidates will exhibit professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• Valid US driver’s license required.
• Knowledge of motors, pumps, HVAC, plumbing, electric, carpentry and furniture repair.
• Skilled with hand and power tools.
• Ability to acquire Special Class C Low Pressure Boiler License within six months of hire.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently and establish priorities.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Subject to drug and alcohol testing and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Perform ground maintenance duties (e.g., snow removal, mowing, trimming).
• Clean carpeting and floors; operate floor care equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area (shop, offices, public spaces).
• Assist in general errands and housekeeping tasks as needed.
• Notify Lead Maintenance about major repairs or equipment additions.
• Perform building security duties; ensure the building is secured after hours.
• Represent Fond du Lac Band and department professionally in the community.
• Be flexible and ready to take on other responsibilities as assigned.

Ability to operate floor care equipment. Maintains a clean and organized work area wherever the work area may be (i.e., shop, offices, public spaces, etc.). Assist in general errands and housekeeping duties as needed.Notifies Lead Maintenance Person concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating and ventilating equipment.Performs building security duties, ensures the building is secure at the completion of business hours. Reports on any authorized persons in the designated work areas during business hours.
