Job summary

The City of St. Cloud's Roads & Stormwater Division is seeking a dependable Maintenance Worker to join our Public Works team. You will perform semi-skilled and skilled labor to maintain roads, stormwater systems, and related infrastructure, with a focus on safety, quality, and community service.

Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with possible standby; candidates should be hands-on, safety-conscious and committed to accountability, empowerment, innovation, and ownership in daily work.

Qualifications

  • High School graduation or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to obtain Class B CDL within 150 days of employment.
  • Certifications listed (Stormwater Level 1, Maintenance of Traffic Level 1, Trenching and Shoring, Confined Space, Forklift Operator, FEMA 100/200/700/800) or ability to obtain.
  • Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to perform semi-skilled and skilled labor.

Responsibilities

  • Operates dump truck and flatbed truck.
  • Assists heavy equipment operator and uses heavy equipment as needed.
  • Assists with installation/repair of storm water sewer lines.
  • Assists with sidewalk and walkway repair, removal, installation.
  • Assists with forming, pouring, finishing concrete; asphalt repair.
  • Performs routine maintenance/service on trucks and equipment.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

The City’s Roads & Stormwater Division is looking for a dependable and motivated Maintenance Worker to join our Public Works team. In this role, you’ll provide semi-skilled and skilled labor that helps maintain the infrastructure our community relies on every day.

From supporting roadway maintenance to helping keep our stormwater systems functioning effectively, your work will have a direct and visible impact on the safety, appearance, and quality of life of our community.

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

  • Operates dump truck and flatbed truck.
  • Works with and assist heavy equipment operator.
  • Operates heavy equipment on an as needed basis.
  • Assists with installation and repair of storm water sewer lines.
  • Assists with repair, removal and installation of sidewalks and walkways.
  • Assists with forming, pouring, and finishing concrete.
  • Removes and repairs asphalt.
  • Performs regular routine maintenance and service of trucks and equipment.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

High School graduation or GED equivalent is preferred.

Maintenance of a valid State of FloridaClass B Commercial Driver's License or ability to obtain within 150 days of employment which meets requirements outlined in the city’s personal rules and regulation manual with an acceptable driving history.

Required to have the below listed certifications or the ability to obtain within 150 days of employment.

  • Stormwater Level 1
  • Maintenance of Traffic Level 1
  • Trenching and Shoring
  • Confined Space
