This position will report to and assist with work at the Graham Cave State Park, 217 State HWY TT, Danville, MO 63361. Primary work duties will include assisting with maintenance on the Mid-East Section of the Katy Trail State Park, which goes from Matson to Mokane, and including the Treloar Mercantile (building and grounds). This position typically works Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break. This position will require working regularly or rotating weekends, holidays, and special events, etc. and be available to participate in meetings, workshops and seminars requiring overnight stays.

  • Responsible for performing a variety of skilled work in maintenance, natural resource stewardship, and repair or alteration of state buildings and facilities. Work area includes Katy Trail State Park.
  • Work in a variety of trade areas such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete and masonry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair in settings such as facilities and grounds.
  • Routine cleaning of park buildings, restrooms, campsites, and park/historic site grounds.
  • Operate and maintain lawn mowers, tractors, skid loader, trucks, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and similar mechanical equipment.
  • Basic computer and customer service skills for timekeeping, assisting visitors, and regular report tracking.
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain chainsaws to include experience felling trees.
  • Assist with prescribed burns, wildfire suppression, herbicide application, and other natural or cultural activities as directed with the completion of Level 1 Prescribed Fire training.
  • Maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license to operate and maintain licensed vehicles, as well as tractors, mowers, skid steer, and other grounds related equipment.
  • May also oversee a crew engaged in maintenance tasks.
  • This position maybe required to obtain and maintain a commercial operator’s license (CDL). If required and if you do not currently possess this license/certification, you will be given six months to obtain necessary license/certification.

  • Plumbing and Pipefitting: Knowledge of materials, methods, and the appropriate tools to install, maintain, or repair pipelines, pipe systems, and fixtures, including water, air, steam, gas, chemicals, or sewage.

  • Four to six years of on-the-job training in building, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical trades. (Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience)
