Job description

This position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance work, and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of City facilities, water, sewer, street, and storm drainage infrastructure.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Works under the day to day supervision of the assigned Public Works Crew Lead and general direction and supervision of the assigned Assistant Superintendent of Public Works.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

None. May provide guidance to temporary staff assigned to the division.

The Maintenance Worker 2 is the intermediate-level position in the Maintenance Series. Incumbents are expected to have sufficient knowledge of construction, maintenance and repair procedures and practices and once trained, the duties require a high level of accuracy and knowledge of maintenance procedures and policies in which consequences of an error would be of great detriment. The incumbent independently performs routine to somewhat complex level of duties and maintenance work in the division to which they are assigned and requires the exercise of considerable independent judgment and action within the policies and procedures of the department.

SANITARY SEWER DIVISION

Assist in the installation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of the various components of the public sewer collection system including, but not limited to: Sewer gravity and force mains, side sewer lines, manhole structures, emergency generators, grinder pump and lift station facilities, valves, and other sewer infrastructure.

Assist with utility locates for both city and developer/builder use.

PERIPHERAL DUTIES

Able and willing to work any day or time during emergencies for snow/ice control work, natural disaster response and recovery or for other unscheduled emergencies. Assist other departments or divisions, as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High School graduate or equivalency, and;
• Three (3) years' experience relating to construction, maintenance, and repair or with a public utility in a similar position OR three years' experience as a Maintenance Worker I with the City of Bonney Lake.
• Valid Washington State Driver's License endorsed for CDL Class A
• Successful passing of a background check, driving abstract, drug and alcohol screening
• CPR/First Aid certification.
• Washington State Traffic Control Flagger Card.
• Confined Space Entry
• Competent Person
• Asbestos Pipe.
• Experience with public utilities and computer skills are preferred.

Special Requirements

• Waste Water Collections Personnel Association (WWCPA) I or
• Washington Onsite Sewage Association (WOSSA) Septic O&M Technician
• Flyght pump maintenance training.
