Job Title: Part-Time Maintenance Worker - Public Works Department, City of La Verne

The City of La Verne is seeking motivated individuals for the position of Part-Time Maintenance Worker in the Public Works Department, specifically within the Streets and Parks divisions. This role is ideal for those who enjoy outdoor work and hands-on tasks, contributing to maintaining community spaces and streets.

Position Details:

• Up to 28 hours weekly, with a 4-day workweek including 3-day weekends (closed Fridays).
• Potential for future full-time employment, typically sourced from part-time staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Perform installation, repair, and maintenance work on street facilities, structures, parks, and community buildings.
2. Operate light to moderate construction equipment such as trucks, asphalt rollers, concrete saws, and more.
3. Repair streets, including patching and asphalt work.
4. Pour and finish concrete, repair water and sewer lines, and maintain drainage systems.
5. Maintain parks and grounds, including planting, watering, trimming, and cleaning.
6. Perform routine equipment maintenance and respond to emergency situations.

Physical and Knowledge Requirements:

• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 100 pounds and working in severe weather.
• Knowledge of construction and maintenance methods, safety practices, and equipment operation.
• Ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively, and work safely with others.

Experience and Licensing:

• Minimum one year of paid experience in landscape maintenance, asphalt, construction, or concrete work.
• Valid California driver’s license required; commercial license preferred.
• Must obtain a driving history from DMV prior to employment at own expense.
