Position Title: Maintenance Worker I

FLSA Status: Hourly

Reports to: Facilities Supervisor

Classification: 12 Month

Compensation Range: $18.25-DOE

Site: District Wide - As Assigned

Job Goal: To assist the Facilities Supervisor in maintaining a safe and clean school environment for students and staff.

Qualifications

Qualifications to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to be successful:

  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License
  • Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Able and willing to work in a team atmosphere

  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance according to published guidelines
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures

  • Perform plumbing, electrical, installation of construction materials and other maintenance duties as assigned

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with and maintain open communication with the Facility Supervisor to provide a safe and positive student and staff environment.
  • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.
  • Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment; repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Repair and maintain the physical structure of establishment.
  • Repair fences, gates, walls, and walkways; paint fences and outbuildings.
  • Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
  • Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
  • Drive white fleet vehicles.
Terms of Employment
  • 12-month, Hourly/Non-Exempt position under FLSA. Placement on Classified salary schedule by the Director of Human Resources dependent upon education and experience.
  • Benefits – All approved benefits for Classified Employees.
  • Must pass Department of Public Safety Fingerprint clearance check.
  • Must be United States citizen or have valid work visa at date of hire with the ability to maintain. All changes in visa status must be reported to Human Resources immediately. Photo identification and work visa, if necessary, will be needed for fingerprint clearance card and I‑9 documentation prior to first day of work.
Evaluation
  • Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
Required Documentation
  • Proof of Mumps, Measles, and Rubella (MMR) vaccination.
  • Valid government issued identification or current work visa with expiration date.
  • IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
