Job summary

Jackson County Board of Education is seeking a Maintenance Worker (HVAC) to respond to assigned school maintenance repairs and construction, and to perform maintenance and repairs of county school facilities and grounds not covered by individual custodial staff.

The position is a 12-month contract. Applicants must be 18 years of age, hold a high school diploma or GED, and have a valid driver’s license (CDL where applicable). Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Must be physically able to perform assigned duties.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL where applicable.
• Experience in maintenance work is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to assigned school maintenance repairs and construction as designated by Maintenance/Transportation Supervisor.
• Maintain and repair county school facilities and grounds not covered by custodial staff.
• Attend workshops and meetings as required; perform duties safely and efficiently.
• Observe safety requirements and cooperate with coworkers and principals; communicate needs to supervisor.
• Any other essential functions assigned by the Superintendent or designee.

Job Description

• Respond to assigned school maintenance repairs and construction as designated by Maintenance/Transportation Supervisor.
• Responsible for maintenance and repairs of county school facilities and grounds which are not covered by individual custodial employees.
• Attend any workshops and meetings as required by the Superintendent and/or State Department of Education. Perform duties in a conscientious manner, giving primary consideration to doing high-quality work as effectively and efficiently as possible.
• Observe all basic requirements and standards of safety. Cooperate with co-workers and principals in a manner that promotes good working relationships. Communicate needs for maintenance as observed to the Maintenance/Transportation Supervisor.
• Any and other essential functions assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
