Zusammenfassung

San Antonio Behavioral Healthcare Hospital is seeking a skilled Hospital Maintenance Technician to repair, overhaul and maintain hospital equipment, fixtures, and utilities distribution. You will respond to trouble calls, perform preventive maintenance, and support fire drill coordination as part of the safety team.

The role requires knowledge of building maintenance, strong safety awareness, and ability to work in a healthcare environment with on-call duties.

Aufgaben

  • Respond to trouble calls throughout the hospital.
  • Repair and maintenance of non-medical equipment (dietary, environmental service equipment, beds, plumbing, lighting, HVAC).
  • Perform preventive maintenance on non-medical equipment (air handlers, dish machines, exhaust fans).
  • Restart and shut down chillers and boilers; coordinate fire drills and be part of the fire response team.
  • Document regulatory compliance requirements (The Joint Commission, state health dept., etc.).
  • Make general building repairs (carpentry, ceilings, flooring, furniture) and perform paint/patch work.
  • Carry out minor electrical repairs on portable non-medical equipment; repair medical gas outlets in patient rooms.
  • Replace interior lighting and reset circuit breakers; participate in on-call rotations.

General Statement of Duties:

  1. Responsible for repair, overhaul and preventive maintenance of hospital owned equipment, fixtures, fittings, furnishings and utilities distribution.
  2. Must work under normal day-to-day conditions as well as under emergency conditions that require all equipment function as normal. May perform other duties of a special nature as directed.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Respond to all trouble calls in the hospital
  2. Performs repairs on non-medical equipment, i.e. dietary, environmental service equipment, beds, plumbing, lighting and HVAC.
  3. Performs preventive maintenance on non-medical equipment such as air handling units, dish machine and exhaust fans.
  4. Restarts and shut down chillers and boilers.
  5. Responsible for implementation and coordination of fire drills. Member of hospital fire response team.
  6. Documentation of regulatory requirements e.g. The Joint Commission, Texas Department of Health and Human Services, etc.

Additional Job Functions:

  1. Make general building repairs to include but not limited to general carpentry repairs, ceiling and floor repairs, and furniture.
  2. Perform paint and patch work.
  3. Minor electrical repair to portable non-medical equipment.
  4. Repair medical gas outlets in patient rooms.
  5. Replacement of building interior lighting as needed and resetting of circuit breakers.
  6. Completes other duties as assigned.
  7. Understands and is committed to helping the Hospital and its associated facilities achieve its goals.
  8. Understands and enforces system, departmental and hospital policies and procedures as well as established rules and regulations.
  9. Must learn and comply with corporate and facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.
  10. Understands and complies with the Hospitals code-of-conduct and models ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues and the community.
  11. Supports the Mission and Vision of the Hospital and demonstrates excellent customer service at all times.
  12. Participation in “on-call” rotation is a must.
Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Job-Related Characteristics:

  1. Knowledge of Building Maintenance. Demonstrates expert level knowledge of maintenance practices and expert level skills in common tools and equipment.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience:

High school diploma/or GED. Training and experience: prefer 3 years experience in a related job or equal in training and on the job training, with at least 1 year experience in a healthcare environment. Prefer at least 3 years experience and a high level of knowledge in a specific trade to include either HVAC, refrigeration, or electrical.

Certified in related field preferred. Complete competencies as defined by department/unit and/or clinical specialty area. Good verbal and written skills are essential.
