Job summary

Management & Training Corporation’s Gadsden Correctional Facility is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform repairs and preventive maintenance of buildings, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and related systems in accordance with ACA, FDOC, and DMS directives.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, technical training, and two years of related experience; a valid Florida driver’s license; strong communication and computer skills; and the ability to supervise inmate workers.

Qualifications

• Technical training completed, related experience preferred.

Job Responsibilities

Maintenance Workers are responsible for performing repairs and maintenance of structures, electrical systems, plumbing, washers and dryers, heating and ventilation and air conditioning systems in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC), Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) and Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) directives.

Essential Functions

• Perform maintenance and repair structures, electrical systems, and heating, plumbing, ventilation, air conditioning and drainage systems; recommend contracted assistance when on-site repair is not possible.
• Repair or replace faulty or damaged light fixtures, outlets, and fuses as directed.
• Perform minor construction and repair of structural woodwork.
• Install window shades or coverings, security locks, etc.
• Perform repair or replacement of plumbing, fixtures, washers, seals, etc.
• Help prepare surfaces for finishing, i.e. painting as directed.
• Direct inmates assigned to department.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education And Experience Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, Technical training and two (2) years related experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency required. Valid driver’s license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Post Hire Requirements

Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
