Job summary

The City of New Braunfels is seeking a motivated individual to join the Public Works Department. Under general supervision, you will perform general labor and maintenance of City facilities, landscaping and related infrastructure in accordance with safety regulations.

You will operate a variety of equipment and assist in planting, mowing, trimming and renovation tasks to support the community’s needs. Applicants should have a High School diploma or GED and at least one year of general

• One year of general maintenance experience.
• Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment to maintain grounds and landscaping at City facilities.
• Perform exterior maintenance on City facilities, buildings and sidewalks.
• Assist in planting, watering, mowing, weeding, trimming and renovation of turf and landscaping.
• Recognize, avoid, and report unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.Operates a variety of specialized equipment and performs manual labor tasks in order to maintain grounds and landscaping at City facilities as assigned.Operates and maintains vehicles, tools and equipment including but not limited to hand tools, commercial mower (rotary and reel), weed eater, blower, chain saw, pickup truck, trailers, utility vehicles, tractors and other grounds and landscape related equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.Performs maintenance activities on the exterior of City facilities, buildings and sidewalks and reports problems requiring additional attention.Assists in the planting, watering, mowing, weeding, trimming and renovation of turf and landscaping.Recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries.Performs other duties as assigned or required.Custodial ServicesElectrical, Plumbing, and HVAC skills preferred.Your education and experience that matters most for this role:Education and Experience:High School diploma or GED equivalent, AND one year of general maintenance experience.Required Licenses or Certifications:Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.Required Knowledge of:Basic tools and equipment used in grounds and landscape maintenance.City safety rules and regulations, occupational hazards and safety precautions. Required Skill in:Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of tools and equipment according to standard operating and safety procedures.Effective communication skills for positive relationships with employees, patrons, and the general public.
