Job summary

Service Corporation International is seeking a dedicated Cemetery Groundskeeper to maintain the appearance of cemetery grounds, chapels, and related facilities. You will perform lawn care, marker maintenance, and assist with interment setups in a demanding outdoor environment.

The role requires ability to operate hand-held tools, lift up to 150 lbs with assistance, and communicate effectively with families and staff.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent or relevant work experience.
• Minimum 6 months of relevant experience.
• Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment, including shovel, rake, and lawn equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 150 lbs with equipment assistance; push/pull up to 300 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Maintains the overall appearance of cemetery, mausoleum and/or funeral home locations, including maintenance and grounds keeping.
• Cuts grass, maintains lawn, trims around trees, walkways and memorial markers; lays sod; moves flowers for chapel and graveside.
• Erects tents and arranges chairs for graveside ceremonies; assists with openings and closings for interments and entombments.
• Arranges chapel for services; prepares crypts for entombments; operates backhoe under supervision.
• Installs grave markers and bronze memorials; maintains and repairs markers and other cemetery features; cleans and stores equipment.
