Job summary

The Minnesota Chippewa Tribe is seeking a Maintenance Worker responsible for overall maintenance and custodial services for the offices and grounds. Duties include general cleaning, tool management, and basic repairs.

The ideal candidate will possess prior maintenance experience and be able to perform various tasks such as mowing, snow removal, and operating lawn care equipment. A valid driver’s license is required, and applicants must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.

Description

The Maintenance Worker is responsible for providing overall maintenance and custodial services for the offices and grounds of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe including general cleaning, repair and assembly functions.

Duties

Perform routine maintenance tasks, daily trash and recycling removal, snow removal, basic carpentry, painting, and cleaning. Perform routine cleaning tasks dusting, organizing, standard SOP garage, tool and inventory intake. Maintain appearance of Tribal grounds by mowing, shoveling, trimming and pruning, weeding garden areas, raking, and watering as necessary. Operate lawn care equipment, hand and power tools, and other specialized tools. Maintain security of building and property. Order and maintain inventory of building supplies to include monitoring building needs. Maintain all certifications i.e. fire safety, sprinkler operations, knowledge of codes and lock boxes, OSHA, forklift operator. Work independently with minimal supervision. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Prior experience in maintenance and custodial required. Knowledge and experience in basic principles of custodial work and safe work practices. Must be able to interact with outside contractors (electricians, plumbers, etc.) who provide maintenance services for the Tribe and the public in a professional and courteous manner. Must possess and maintain a current valid driver’s license and auto insurance. Background check required. Must have the ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
