Job summary

The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians is seeking a Housekeeper/Maintenance specialist for the ACFS department in Michigan.

The role covers daily housekeeping, sanitation, building maintenance, and basic repairs to keep offices clean and safe. You will perform carpet care, groundskeeping, and routine inspections of plumbing, electrical, and safety systems, while coordinating with vendors and ensuring compliance with OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum of one-year building repair and maintenance or housekeeping experience.
• Certification/License: Background check may be required per Tribe policies.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: OSHA standards knowledge and ability to follow safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, waxing, vacuuming, dusting, moving furniture.
• Maintains building carpets using extraction equipment and biohazard kits as required.
• Grounds keeping including mowing, trimming, leaf blowing, snow shoveling and ice removal.
• Performs routine repairs in plumbing, carpentry and electrical work (clearing blockages, replacing tiles, repairing screens/windows).
• Completes monthly inspections of smoke detectors, emergency exits, and emergency lighting.
