Job summary

Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield, KY is seeking a Maintenance Worker to keep hospital facilities, HVAC, electrical systems and grounds in safe, reliable condition. You will follow directions from the Director of Plant Operations and contribute to the maintenance program.

Applicants should have at least 2 years of hospital maintenance experience, a High School Diploma, and solid English communication.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of maintenance experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Familiarity with Joint Commission and regulatory policy is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reports daily to the Director of Plant Operations on facility conditions and work progress.
• Assists in administering the maintenance program to ensure uninterrupted operation of the physical plant.
• Coordinates with departments to plan schedules, prioritize work, and request necessary materials.

How you'll contribute

A Maintenance Worker who excels in this role: Assists in assigned activities of plant operation functions which are necessary in maintaining the physical structures, HVAC, mechanical, electrical systems, utility systems and grounds of the hospital in an operative and safe working condition. Assists in maintaining performance improvement activities within the facility and participates in CQI activities. Performs general maintenance and repair duties to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Physical Plant. Receives daily direction from the Director of Plant Operations via verbal or written communications. May share on call with Director of Plant Operations.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a High School Diploma (or equivalent). Additional requirements include:

• At least 2 years' experience with maintenance preferably in a hospital setting.
• Familiarity with Joint Commission and other regulatory policy and procedures highly preferred.
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Basic computer knowledge.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Reports daily to the Director of Plant Operations regarding the physical and structural conditions of hospital facilities and the status of work in progress.
• Assists in administering the maintenance program to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the entire physical plant.
• Works closely with other departments and administration. Negotiates priorities, plans work schedules, completes job assignments, and requests orders of needed materials, supplies and parts.
