Job summary

Service Corporation International is seeking a Cemetery Maintenance associate to keep cemetery, mausoleum and funeral home grounds well cared for and orderly. You will perform lawn care, marker maintenance, and prepare chapels for services, with backhoe operation possible under supervision.

The role requires physical work outdoors, ability to lift up to 150 lbs with assistance, and multi-tasking in all weather. Benefits include standard company offerings and a team‑oriented environment.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 months of relevant cemetery maintenance experience.
• Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment.
• Able to lift up to 150 lbs with assistance; push/pull up to 300 lbs.
• Able to work outdoors and multi-task in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Cut grass and maintain lawns, trim around trees and markers.
• Lay sod and move flowers for chapel and graveside services.
• Clear debris and maintain drives and walkways, snow removal as needed.
• Erect tents, canopies, and arrange chairs for grave ceremonies.
• Assist with openings and closings for interments and entombments.
• Set up chapels and prep crypts for entombments.
• May operate backhoe under supervision to dig graves.
• Install/c maintain grave markers and cemetery features.
• Perform general maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and vehicles.
• Follow safety rules and OSHA guidelines.
