Job description

San Luis Valley Health is seeking a full-time Maintenance Worker to perform a variety of duties including building repairs, plumbing, and electrical work. The candidate will construct partitions, shelves, and racks, and assemble equipment as needed. This position requires knowledge of building trades fundamentals.

What You Need:

• High School diploma or GED; courses or experience in mechanics, electricity, or building trades preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in building trades.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Knowledge of electricity, plumbing, carpentry, boiler operation, or general maintenance.
• Ability to apply engineering principles to diagnose and repair equipment or systems.
• Familiarity with tools, instruments, and gauges used in maintenance and repairs.

What You'll Do:

• Perform routine and emergency repairs, preventative maintenance on hospital buildings, equipment, fixtures, and grounds.
• Conduct finish work such as repairing floors, walls, tiles, and painting.
• Handle light plumbing tasks including faucet, toilet, drain repairs, and medical gas services.
• Perform basic carpentry like hanging shelves, fixing doors, installing ceiling tiles, and assembling furniture.
• Monitor boiler gauges and replace steam traps as needed.
• Carry out light electrical work including replacing outlets, switches, maintaining lighting, and safety checks.
