San Luis Valley Health is seeking a full time Maintenance Worker to perform a wide variety of duties that include building repairs, plumbing, and general electrical repairs. The candidate also constructs partitions, shelves, racks, etc., builds, and assembles equipment when required. This position requires a working knowledge of various building trades fundamentals.

What You Need:

  • High School graduate, or GED, with courses or experience in mechanics, electricity, or building trades are required.
  • Must possess a minimum of 2 years building trades experience.
  • Acceptable driving record allowing individual to be insured.
  • Required knowledge of the principles of electricity, plumbing, carpentry, boiler operation, or general building maintenance.
  • Must be able to apply engineering principles to detect and repair malfunctioning equipment or systems.
  • Candidate will be familiar with operations of various tools, instruments, and gauges for facility/equipment/instrument maintenance and repairs

What You'll Do:

  • Performs a variety of routine and emergency repairs and preventative maintenance to hospital buildings, community clinics, equipment, furnishings, fixtures, and grounds; keeps all areas in proper condition as directed. Makes daily rounds in assigned areas, checking for immediate needs proactively.
  • Performs finish work to include repairing floors and wall covering (e.g. tiles, carpeting, paint, ceiling tiles, signs, sheet rock, etc.).
  • Performs light plumbing work to include service of faucets, toilets, and drains; medical gas outlets service, pressure and flow testing, O-ring replacements, and zone valves.
  • Performs basic carpentry to include hang shelves, fix doors and locks, cut and install ceiling tiles; assemble, move and install furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Monitors boiler gauges, replaces steam traps as assigned.
  • Performs light electrical work to include removal and replacement of duplex outlets and switches (and similar devices); maintains and services lighting, bulbs, and ballasts; perform electrical safety checks of hospital equipment, receptacles, and appliances.
