Position: Maintenance Welder Lead

Primary Location: Celina, TX

Shift: 40 hours per week

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Compensation: $37 + Benefits available

The US hourly rate for this position is $37 + benefits. Hourly rates are determined by role, level, and location. The hourly rate displayed on each job posting reflects the starting rate for new hires for the position. Rates may also be determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

About this Role and About You

Maintenance Welder Lead is the primary mechanical technical advisor to the Maintenance Manager. The Maintenance Welder Lead will be leading from the front, carry out and be an active participant in the priorities identified by the Maintenance Manager and will have the capacity to accomplish secondary and tertiary routine maintenance and repair items with little to no supervision. You will have responsibilities for the safe and efficient execution of maintenance jobs as well as leading maintenance team as per directions of the Maintenance Manager. You will be the contact point for all members of the crew and will coordinate team operational tasks while providing effective collaboration between the team and management.

Equipment includes industrial machinery supporting site specific equipment including pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, reactors/tanks/vessels, valves, support structures and other various piping system components.

Due to the hazardous nature of the chemicals being handled and stored, this position requires an extremely safety conscientious individual with a highly developed safety attitude and safety focus combined with the ability to demonstrate a high and sustainable focus on attention to detail.

Qualification

Knowledge

  • Overall 15 years welding & maintenance with 3-5 years’ experience in lead role in similar position
  • High School Diploma preferably mechanical, associate’s degree in mechanical will be a plus.

Competencies

  • Must be able to pipe fit/fabricate and weld (TIG) stainless steel pipe and associated support structures.
  • Experience in plant operations, repair, safety, quality, and environment procedures and tasks
  • Proficient use of hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.
  • Technical and logical competency regarding safety and production equipment.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to direct the work of others while maintaining composure
  • Respectful of team members and provide role modeling of all company values
  • Commitment to safety principles and operational efficiency

  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office

  • Prior supervisory experience is a plus

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to pipe fit and weld stainless steel (TIG) and ferrous piping systems.
  • Organize and lead a team of technicians while involved in one or more skilled activities.
  • Leads and directs maintenance evolutions, in support of the Maintenance Manager performing all work as a cohesive crew which troubleshoots together, learns together, and safely & efficiently operates the plant.
  • Diagnose complex mechanical issues and provide solutions, utilizing advanced knowledge of machinery and tools.
  • Coordinate training of technicians on preventative maintenance (PM) tasks and ensure PMs are completed to schedule to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
  • Provide backfill coverage to Plant Manager when Maintenance Manager is not on site.
  • Ensure adherence to Chemtrade safety policy, procedures and principles.
  • Provide scheduled and emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment / facilities.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Comply with OSHA safety and health rules.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Environment

  • Push, pull, lift, carry, or maneuver weights of up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to spend long periods of time walking and standing.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and elevated environments.

The physical demands are in place to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

  • Shift: Monday to Friday (40 hours + over time)
  • On Call for emergent repairs nights and weekends
