Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Maintenance Welder/Fitter in Milwaukee, WI to weld and fit heavy components for conveyor systems and equipment. You will read blueprints, set up welding equipment, and ensure weld quality across various metals, including stainless steel.

The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and precise workmanship in a clean fabrication shop. The position is contract to hire, onsite in Milwaukee with a first shift 6:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

Qualifications

• 4+ years welding experience, heavy plate/structural steel
• MIG welding proficiency, including heavy plate MIG
• Flux core and metal core welding proficiency
• Ability to read blueprints accurately
• Experience welding structural steel and stainless steel
• Operate press brakes and plasma cutting equipment
• Understand welding quality standards and inspection practices
• Work with medium to large/heavy components safely

Responsibilities

• Weld components for conveyor systems and heavy equipment using flux core, MIG, and metal core processes.
• Perform heavy plate welding to meet strength and safety requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specs for welding and fitting.
• Set up and operate welding equipment with proper parameters and consumables.
• Conduct quality checks on welded parts for weld integrity and dimensions.
• Fit and assemble structural steel prior to welding and prepare materials.
