Job summary

Byer Steel in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a skilled General Maintenance Technician with welding experience to perform routine maintenance, repairs and fabrication across our facility. The role requires hands-on maintenance, welding and safe repair of metal components, with attention to measurement accuracy and documentation.

The candidate will weld (Stick and MIG) and fabricate as needed, repair structural components such as handrails and gates, and document all work for the maintenance program.

Qualifications

• Welding certificate required.
• Must be trained in lock out tag out.
• Proficient 1-2 years of field welding experience (Stick and Mig).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders or production schedules.
• Knowledge of cleanup and disposing of spills properly.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repair work on buildings, equipment and facilities.
• Fabricate and weld using stick and MIG; work in flat, vertical or overhead positions as required.
• Repair and maintain structural components, handrails, gates, frames and equipment.
• Inspect, measure or test pieces to ensure conformance to specs using measuring devices.
• Document all work for tracking in the maintenance program.
