Job summary

Vectrus, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Trades Helper to perform general labor tasks and assist technicians in a Fort Bragg-based program. The role involves handling materials, cleaning work areas, and supporting entry-level tasks as directed by technicians.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year in a trade. A valid REAL ID license and ability to obtain a Public Trust are required; pre-employment drug screen and background check will be conducted.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year experience in a trade.
  • Must have a valid REAL ID State Driver's License with no restrictions
  • Experience or familiarity in automotive maintenance trades is preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be able to pass a standard background check.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI Tier 1 Public Trust.
  • Must be able to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship, such as a birth certificate or a U.S. Passport.
  • Must be able to maintain driving privileges aboard the Fort Bragg Installation.

The Maintenance Trades Helper performs general labor duties, operates support equipment and assists other workers to complete non-technical tasks associated with assigned requirements.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:


  • Assists in keeping technicians supplied with materials and tools.

  • Cleans working areas, tools, machines, and equipment.

  • Performs entry-level tasks as directed by technician.

  • May be required to operate vehicles and materiel handling equipment.

  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.



MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED


  • May perform work in conditions of inclement weather, extreme heat and cold, high/low humidity, blowing sand and dust, and working in confined spaces and at heights.

  • Employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.

  • Personal Protection Equipment may be required to include a face mask.



WORKING ENVIRONMENT:


  • May performing work in conditions of inclement weather, extreme heat and cold, high/low humidity, blowing sand and dust, and working in confined spaces and at heights.

  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.

  • Personal Protection Equipment may be required to include a face mask that covers the nose and mouth.

  • Specific contractual requirements regarding education and experience prevail where applicable.



PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:


  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.

  • Work requires stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolong sitting and occasional working in cramped and awkward position.

  • A normal work week is 40 hours (5 days a week).

  • May be required to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and overtime as mission requires.



Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION


  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a trade.

EXPERIENCE:


  • Knowledge/awareness of safety issues and ability to perform duties in strict compliance with OSHA rules.

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a trade preferred.

  • Must be responsive, reliable, detail-oriented, punctual, have good judgment and excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work both independently with little supervisory direction and as a team player.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in English (written, oral and/or diagram form).

  • Ability to interact with both co-workers and clients in a courteous and professional manner.

  • Ability to work productively with other staff in the workplace.

  • Experience or familiarity in automotive maintenance trades is preferred.
