Job summary

La Canasta Mexican Food Products, LLC. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to oversee operations and maintenance of facility equipment, including air compressors, electrical and HVAC systems, and production equipment. The role requires welding and fabrication, automation controls, and PLC programming, with the ability to report safety or quality issues to supervision. Five years of related experience and an apprenticeship are preferred, and the shift is 7pm–3:30am with GMP/HARPC compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Maintenance Mechanic or related trade.
• Controls background in automation and PLC experience.
• Experience with HVAC, electrical systems and production equipment.
• Good verbal and writing skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical/electronic systems.
• Apprenticeship/substitution allowed for experience.
• Relay ladder logic knowledge and PLC programming familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Implement control strategies as directed.
• Repair and operate facility equipment and production equipment.
• Install new equipment and document installations.
• Maintain and document existing systems.
• Perform HVAC maintenance and related repairs.
• May include welding, fabrication and soldering as needed.
• On-call availability 24/7; comply with GMP and HARPC requirements.

Job Summary: PMshift - 7pm - 3:30am

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the Operation and Maintenance of various facility equipment including air compressors, electrical systems, dust collection systems, HVAC systems etc. The Technician will also be responsible for the maintenance and proper operation of production equipment and related systems to include automated systems and controls, mechanical systems and electrical systems. Must have welding and fabrication experience. The Maintenance Technician is responsible to report any food safety or quality issue to supervisor or upper management with the ability to initiate action.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Implementation of control strategy as directed.
• Repair and operation of all facility equipment
• Repair and maintenance of production equipment.
• Installation of new equipment.
• Documentation of new installations made by Technician.
• Documentation of existing systems as required.
• Experience working on HVAC repairs.
• Experience in building maintenance, framing and dry wall repair.
• Painting, soldering, landscape.
• Forklift driving is a plus.
• On-call availability 24/7.
• Must be in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Hazard Analysis Risk-based Preventative Control (HARPC).

Education and/or Experience:

Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Maintenance Mechanic, Electrician, Millwright or other applicable trade skill.

• Completion of an apprenticeship or vocational education may substitute for the experience requirements.
• Must have controls background in automation.
• Must have knowledge of PLC’s programming, installation and operation.
• Must be able to utilize PC as required by jobs/projects
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical/electronic systems.
• Excellent verbal and writing skills.
• Understand relay ladder logic and able to program PLC.

Skills and abilities:

Bilingual (Spanish) a plus but not required.

• College level course work related to job.
