Job summary

Chambliss Center for Children is seeking a dependable Maintenance Technician to help keep our facilities safe, functional, and welcoming in the Chattanooga area. This full-time role supports children, families, and communities we serve.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 2+ years of general building maintenance experience.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
• Fingerprint-based background check is required for working around children.

Responsibilities

• Complete maintenance work orders and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Perform plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC support.
• Inspect facilities for safety concerns and repair furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
• Respond to urgent maintenance needs and keep facilities clean and safe.

What You'll Do

• Complete maintenance work orders and preventive maintenance tasks
• Perform general building repairs, including:
  • Plumbing
  • Basic electrical work
  • Carpentry
  • Painting
  • HVAC support
• Inspect facilities and identify maintenance or safety concerns
• Install, move, and repair furniture, fixtures, and equipment
• Respond to urgent maintenance needs as needed
• Help keep agency facilities clean, safe, and operating smoothly

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 2 years of general building maintenance experience
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record
• Ability to safely use hand and power tools
• Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check required for working around children

Physical Requirements

• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb ladders throughout the day
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Travel between multiple agency locations throughout the Chattanooga area
