Job description

Maintenance Technician Trainee

The Maintenance Technician Trainee supports the maintenance and upkeep of the property to ensure efficient operations and tenant satisfaction. This role is designed to develop technical skills through hands-on experience, job shadowing, formal training, and practical application alongside the onsite engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in completing work orders related to physical maintenance and repairs using work order software systems.
• Support routine physical improvements to the property.
• Respond to emergencies according to departmental protocols.
• Assist the Supervisor in maintaining equipment, tools, supplies, inventories, and logs.
• Communicate building status and changes effectively to relevant individuals.
• Adhere to safety standards, policies, procedures, codes of conduct, and industry best practices.
• Act professionally and courteously with tenants, clients, co-workers, vendors, and patients.
• Use materials, supplies, tools, and building property safely and efficiently.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training in maintenance-related courses is a plus.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Ability to follow directions and instructions.
• Safety-conscious with attention to detail.
• Knowledge of tools and proper usage.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Basic math skills.
• Physically capable of walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and lifting up to 50 pounds with proper body mechanics.
