Job summary

City of DeSoto is hiring for a street maintenance position responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, sidewalks, and storm drains. Duties include pouring concrete, asphalt work, tree trimming, and equipment operation.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent; a valid driver’s license is required, with CDL Class B preferred. Residency within 30 minutes of the Service Center is expected; on‑call and after‑hours work may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• No experience required; related maintenance/construction experience preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License; must have good driving record.
• Valid CDL Class B preferred.
• Residence within 30 minutes of City of DeSoto Service Center; willing for callback after probation.

Responsibilities

• Pours, spreads and levels concrete; sets forms, ties steel, backfills, places, compacts asphalt.
• Maintains streets, alleys, sidewalks, and storm drains; repairs as needed.
• Directs traffic flow, places/removes cones and barricades for safety.
• Maintains vehicles and equipment; reports maintenance or repair needs.
• Responds to emergencies and on-call situations; may work special events.
• Performs other assigned duties as needed.
