Job summary

Darigold in Bozeman, Montana seeks a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to repair and preventively maintain all plant equipment within our food processing facility. You will join the Operations Division and work 2 pm–12 am across 7 days with 3 days off, collaborating with production teams to minimize downtime while ensuring safety and quality standards.

A background in dairy manufacturing and experience with PLCs, electrical controls, and schematics is valued.

Qualifications

• Min. 3 yrs. exp. in mechanical/electrical maintenance, or instrumentation certificate.
• Food background preferred, specifically dairy.
• Experience in a variety of manufacturing areas (production, logistics), within consumer products.

Responsibilities

• Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyors, and production machines.
• Troubleshoots malfunctions using diagrams, manuals, and specs.
• Controls downtime by informing production workers of maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
• Fabricates repair parts using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
• Proficient in process instrumentation including troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and calibration.
• Reads and troubleshoots electrical schematics; handles 24V, 110V, 220V and 480V systems.

Job description

The Maintenance Mechanic must possess the desire and ability to maintain all plant equipment. As a member of the Bozeman team the Maintenance Mechanic will be a partner in the Operations Division. The Maintenance Mechanic’s role is to perform repairs and preventative maintenance on all plant equipment.

Schedule: 2 pm to 12 am on 4–10-hour shifts across 7 days (Sun - Sat) with 3 days off (at least two consecutive days off) during each week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other Duties As Assigned)

• Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions
• Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventative maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance
• Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
• Proficient in process instrumentation including troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and calibration
• Read, understand and troubleshoot using electrical schematics
• General electrical troubleshooting of 24v, 110v, 220v and 480v systems
• Understand the theory behind process flow

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Highly proficient and experienced in troubleshooting, PLC s, electrical controls, instrumentation
• Knowledgeable in the areas of mechanical machinery, steam, boiler, pneumatic & hydraulic operations
• Read/understand blueprints, electrical schematics and equipment manuals
• Strong team, verbal, and written skills
• Must be available ALL DAYS, ALL SHIFTS
• Sanitary welding experience preferred
• Boiler and/or Refrigeration experience preferred

Education, Experience, and Certifications

• Min. 3 yrs. exp. in mechanical/electrical maintenance, or instrumentation certificate
• Food background preferred, specifically dairy
• Experience in a variety of manufacturing areas (production, logistics), within consumer products.
