Job summary

Job description

Darigold is seeking an experienced and motivated Maintenance Mechanic to join the team at our Portland plant. This position will involve maintaining operational status of production equipment, utility systems and infrastructure, working in conjunction with other members of the Engineering Team. Our plants create nutritious products 24/7, 365 days a year so availability to work flexible shift schedules, including weekends and holidays, as needed is a must. This is a full-time hourly union position.

What You Will Do:

• Install, assemble, and test new and existing production machinery and equipment; understand and comply with workplace safety regulations
• Monitor, identify and respond promptly to signs of malfunction in machinery such as changes in performance, temperature fluctuations, sounds, smells, or atypical energy usage; perform troubleshooting for production machinery
• Perform emergency repairs on various types of machinery, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic; identify and replace worn or damaged parts in a timely manner
• Maintain machinery and the adjacent workplace in a state of appropriate cleanliness; create and maintain a schedule for inspection, service, and testing of machinery
• Usage of a CMMS to schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance and service for each piece of equipment
• Read and comply with work orders concerning service, modification or installation of machinery
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and maintain equipment and records
• This position is responsible for following all Food Safety and Quality requirements as outlined in Darigold’s Good Manufacturing Policy, in conformance with the position’s Standard Operating Procedures, and in accordance with facility training sessions and materials. The position is also required to report any concerns that may impact Food Safety or Quality to their immediate supervisor, the Plant Quality Manager or the Plant Manager

What You Will Bring:

• Familiarity with MS Office suite and applications, ability to utilize electronic communication effectively
• Understanding and experience in preventive maintenance
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals
• Able to lift 50 lbs. routinely / frequently and be able to sit, stand climb or walk for 8 hours
• Able to work in a loud environment
• Strong team/verbal/written skills are required. Demonstrated ability to be a team player
• Experience troubleshooting: PLC’s, controls instrumentation (limited)
• Strong mechanical and manufacturing experience preferred
• Formal education in a related field – prefer Associates degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Engineering a plus
• Must be available to work any shift
