Job summary

The State of Indiana is seeking a Maintenance Technician at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility in Carlisle, Indiana. You will support daily repair and preventive maintenance across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and grounds with on-site training provided.

This Monday-Friday role offers steady hours, strong safety practices, competitive benefits, and clear paths to supervisory roles. A valid driver's license is required; a degree is not necessary.

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of electrical systems, carpentry, plumbing and painting trades.
• Ability to plan, schedule and supervise job sites.
• Ability to fill in for other foreman to ensure operation of the department.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and other remediation plans and documents.
• Thorough knowledge of OSHA standards, MSDS, occupational hazards and safety precautions required of the various trade areas.
• Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Solicit cost estimates or cost proposals.
• Estimate costs and work hours for maintenance projects.
• Oversee and participates in preventive maintenance and repairs of facilities.
• Maintain accountability of materials, tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Ensure compliance with safety requirements for self and personnel.
• Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure roles and professional development.
• Set expectations, measure progress, provide feedback, and evaluate performance.
• Workday attendance at assigned worksite is required.
